Anahim - Nimpo Lake Fishing Trip

Question:  can your high-strung, stripped and pumped competition rocket be used as a pick-up truck to go fishing?

Planning, let's see - about 240nm, should be about a 2 hours flight including buzzing the cabin, leaves 30 min reserve.  Most of the trip will be at over 10,000' to stay above the icecaps, so better check the winds aloft.  Yep, less than 20 knots.  Away we go.

Trip tracking.  gotta love that SPOT Messenger.  Had a bit of a go-around with the FSS when they wouldn't take down the tracking information.  Luddities.

About an hour into the flight and lots of time for self-reflection

A look at my panel.  RPM, oil pressure, altitude, speed, etc

Looking for goats but didn't see any.

Lot's of ice around but fairly snug in the cockpit

Wondered and then wondered some more about landing (or crashing) a Pitts on a glacier.

cutting across Chilko Lake.  Never seen it this calm.

Behind me as I cross Tatlayoko Lake

A few more rocks to get past before I get in the Blackwater country

Charlotte Lake gliding past my left wing.

Nimpo Lake, cabin is that red roof dead ahead

Looking from all sides

Here's the close-up.  Tin boat waiting at the dock.  Just going to do a Vne, eyeball level, three roll hammerhead shoot-up to let them know I'm here.

Ahhh. Nirvana. Just 3 hours after takeoff.  The only flies are the ones tied to the end of my fly rod.  That's the host Alex Lepore getting his line wet too.

Alex and Iris with one of the several 18" inch Rainbow Trout we just caught.   Anything less than 15 inches we threw back.

Cabin panorama.  2.7 Meg (big panoramic view)

Video pan from the cockpit in cruise with sound.  With enough concentration you can actually make the engine run smoother.  3.3 Meg - big file.
